This is the privacy policy of Transportant, Inc., a Kansas technology company focused on supporting schools, bus Drivers, Parents, and Students to make school transportation fun, safe, and efficient.

Information security and personal privacy are part of our core mission. We provide this notice explaining our privacy practices and the choices you can make about the way your information and, if applicable, your children’s information (collectively, “Personal Information”) is collected and used.

We will not make material changes to how Personal Information is collected, used, or shared under the terms of this Privacy Policy without advance notice to and consent from the school(s) or School District(s) providing consent for the collection of such Personal Information.

Overview

Protecting the privacy and integrity of your Personal Information means, generally, that we will not collect Personal Information without consent or as otherwise specified within this policy; we will not sell or rent your Personal Information to third parties; we will only share your Personal Information with third parties that are critical to providing the Services (as defined in our Terms and Conditions of Use, available here (the “Terms of Use”)), and we will require such third parties to meet strict information security requirements and adhere to these same commitments; we will collect and use no more information than is necessary to provide the Services; we will not create a personal profile of any Student or child other than what is necessary to provide the Services; and you will have reasonable access to your Personal Information to confirm its accuracy. Transportant will share Personal Information with Law Enforcement only as required by law and will inform customers of law enforcement requests.

Why does Transportant collect Personal Information?

Transportant exists solely to provide school systems, Parents, and Students with the tools and technology to better measure and manage their school transportation services. This includes services for Parents and Guardians, such as mobile applications to monitor events associated with their own assigned school bus route, such as when a school bus is approaching their stop. All use of Personal Information is exclusively for these purposes.

With whom does Transportant share Personal Information?

Transportant will never rent or sell Personal Information to third parties. Transportant primarily shares Personal Information with the school systems who purchase the Services. Transportant does not share Personal Information with any additional third parties except as necessary to provide the Services. For example, the contents of mobile notifications sent to iOS and Android users are necessarily shared with Apple and Google, respectively.

What information does Transportant collect?

We collect Personal Information to provide you, your children, your children’s school, and the school bus operator with the ability to provide school bus monitoring services including, viewing scheduled and estimated arrival times, alerts when a bus is approaching, auto-notification of arrival time changes, notification for substitute bus numbers, and pickup and drop off notifications for Parents.

To provide the Services, we may collect Personal Information including:

  • Your Name
  • Your Children’s Names, Ages, Grade Level (e.g. Kindergarten, 1st Grade, Sophomore), and School(s)
  • Your Children’s Bus Route and Bus Stop Assignments
  • Your Children’s identifiers as assigned by the school system (e.g. Student ID number)
  • Your Children’s Entrance and Egress from a School Bus
  • Video, Images, and Audio of your Children
  • Your Email Address
  • Your Children’s Email Address
  • Your Phone Number
  • Your Children’s Phone Number(s)

 

What Tracking Information, Audio and Video Recordings are Collected?

To provide the Services, we may collect location information about when and where children board and exit a school bus, as well as audio and video monitoring of children while they are on a school bus.

This information, including personal data, will be shared with a Student’s school and/or School District and (at the school’s discretion) bus and other transportation companies employed by the school system. This information will not be sold to anyone, and all tracking information, including personal data, will be safeguarded in accordance with our data security policies (described below).

In the event the Company discovers that inappropriate video images, such as violence between Students, displays of affection between Students, or exposed or private body parts, are inadvertently captured, Transportant reserves the right to immediately and permanently delete such images from the Company’s systems or, if required by law, to turn such data over to law enforcement officials.

When will Transportant Share Personal Information with Law Enforcement?

Transportant believes that everyone has a right to privacy and therefore ensure any request for information from law enforcement has proper authority and verification.

Transportant provides user information in response to law enforcement requests only in the event that Transportant is required to do so by law. For non-public information law enforcement must provide the proper and correct legal documents required to obtain information (e.g. a subpoena, court order, or warrant). Transportant investigates requests to ensure they comply with the law.

Our customers are schools and school systems, and it is our policy to provide notice to those customers about any law enforcement request involving their Students or staff, unless we are prohibited from doing so by law.

Requests seeking personal information must refer to a specific person and the type of information sought. Transportant will not provide information in response to a request that only seeks general information.

Transportant will not disclose any information unless a valid search warrant has been issued under the procedures described in the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure or equivalent state warrant procedures upon a showing of probable cause.

How does Transportant secure and protect Personal Information?

We endeavor to maintain industry leading physical, procedural, and technical security with respect to our information storage systems and facilities to prevent any loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, or modification of personal information.

We keep the personal information we collect from about you strictly confidential. Only authorized personnel have access to this personal information. Our personnel who have access to personal information receive training regarding privacy protection.

We use and will continue to use industry-standard or industry leading technology to maintain the security of your personal information. This includes appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to secure Personal Information from unauthorized access, disclosure, and use. We will conduct periodic risk assessments and remediate any identified security vulnerabilities in a timely manner. We will also have a written incident response plan, to include prompt notification of the appropriate parties in the event of a security or privacy incident, as well as best practices for responding to a breach of Personal Information. We cannot and do not, however, guarantee the privacy, security, authenticity, or non-corruption of any information transmitted through the Internet.

We take great care in selecting and monitoring that the service providers, suppliers, and the like with whom we share information are committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information at standards that are at least as stringent as our own information security practices and Privacy Policy. However, we do not and cannot guarantee the actions, conduct, or standards of any such parties.

We shall not be responsible for any claims, damages, costs, or losses whatsoever arising out of or in any way related to third-party connections to or use of the Internet. We cannot and do not ensure the protection of any personal information that you provide to a third-party web site that may reference, be referenced or link to our website.

By using our Website and registering accounts, requesting information, or logging in through our Website, you are also consenting to the transfer of your data to or within the United States and acknowledge that you understand the risks of these transfers. You may withdraw this consent at any time by sending an email to the Company stating your intention to withdraw your consent for the Company to use your data. Should you withdraw your consent, the Company may not be able to provide services to you, and you therefore release the Company from any breach of contract or other legal or equitable theory arising from the Company’s failure to fulfill any order after your consent has been withdrawn.

All personal information collected will be permanently and irrecoverably deleted once it is no longer necessary for Transportant to provide Services.

What Information Is Collected Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies?

As you navigate through and interact with our Website or use the Services, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, including:

Details of your visits to our Website, including traffic data, location data, logs, and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Website.

Information about your computer and internet connection, including your IP address, operating system, and browser type.

The information we collect automatically is statistical data and does not include Personal Information, but we may maintain it or associate it with personal information we collect in other ways or receive from third parties. Parents or legal Guardians may review their children’s personal information maintained by us, require us to correct or delete the personal information, and/or refuse to permit us from further collecting or using the children’s information.

How may I Access, Correct, or Delete Your Information?

You can access all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain by emailing the Company; provided, that, audio and visual recordings that include other’s Personal Information may not be obtainable due federal and state law. To protect your privacy and security, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections. We use this procedure to better safeguard your information. You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a request that credibly shows error. If you desire to delete any personally identifiable information stored by us on our servers, please email us to submit that request.

What happens to Personal Information if Transportant is bought by another company?

In the event we merge, acquire, or are acquired by another entity, we will require the successor entity to adhere to the substantive terms of this Privacy Policy with regard to any Personal Information in our possession or control.
